Overnight "Out-Back" Camping Adventures

June through August, experience Maine’s wilderness with this mini adventure just “out-back” of Magic Falls Base Camp. You'll raft the exciting Kennebec River Gorge on day one. Then enjoy a hearty BBQ followed by a slide and video show of your trip. Next, we will drive you to 90-foot Moxie Falls where you can take pictures and swim in the pools above the falls.

Upon return to base camp, we will check you into our cabin tents, located along the Dead River where you can also use our other facilities. Sit around the bonfire, enjoy a few cold, frosty beverages (alcohol permitted in moderation) and hors d'oeuvres. For dinner, you have a choice of lobster, steak or chicken, served with corn on the cob, baked potatoes and all the trimmings. After supper we will make hot apple crisp, homemade ice cream and the campers' favorite, s'mores.

The next day, enjoy breakfast prepared over an open fire, and raft the  Kennebec once again.. All trips include a Registered Maine Guide, safety instruction, equipment, and transportation.

We supply thick sleeping pads, food, guides, river equipment, dry bags and transportation.

You supply pillow, warm clothes, rain gear, shorts, sturdy footwear, flashlight, sleeping bag, insect repellent.

$199.00 per person

Fun Yaks:

funyaks

One of our sepecialties! A Fun Yak is an inflatable kayak, often described as a cross between a raft and a canoe. They are available to rent for flat-water kayaking on your own or sign up for instruction with a registered Maine whitewater guide on the lower Kennebec River with lots of Class II whitewater and plenty of surfing and hole playing. We'll take a short hike to 90-foot Moxie Falls where you can swim in the crystal clear pools and enjoy a picnic lunch.

Lower Kennebec Float Trips

A safe, scenic, and gentle, four-hour guided rafting tour on a lower portion of the Kennebec. No whitewater here. View the magnificent flora and fauna along the riverbanks. Linger on the shore for a snack and a swim. Spend the night at the Dead River Lodge. Build a bonfire, cook hot dogs, hamburgers and s'mores, and treat yourself to some homemade ice cream. Help yourself to a continental breakfast the next morning. $125 per person/minimum four (at least one adult).

"We feel like we’re visiting family when we’re there.
I’ve come back every year since 2000 (17 years) and have never rafted with anyone else. Guests I’ve brought over the years have only had good things to say about the service and experience we get from Magic Falls Rafting Co.
Some of those guests had previously rafted with other outfits and have said they’d only raft with Magic Falls again.

"We had a blast! Our guide kept us safe and happy! We were able to get in and ride the rapids a couple times. We had cool challenges and it was very exciting! Afterwards we returned to base camp for lunch, the steak was very tender and blueberry crumb cake was delicious. We would do this trip over and over again!"
Melissa H, Houston, TX

"We had the best time rafting the Kennebec with Magic Falls. We took my father and 3 teenagers for a wild ride. The experience of the our guide Joe and Chris on the other raft made for a much more exciting ride than a previous trip we took with another rrafting company. True professionals, safe and highly skilled."

"Thank you for helping coordinate an awesome rafting trip for me and my 6 friends. Guide Eric Lundquist was perfect for us! We really enjoyed our time with him and all the ladies took something special from the day: overcame a fear, experienced something they never did before or just had a perfect time enjoying the beauty of the river. The stop at the waterfall was a highlight for everyone! Your business is absolutely wonderful!! I had such a good experience this past summer with my retreat that I am working on expanding and doing two retreats in 2018!"
